Hélène de Montgeroult (1764-1836) was a virtuosic French pianist, educator, salonniere, and composer. She was appointed professeur de première classe at the newly established Paris Conservatoire in 1795, and her Parisian home was host to numerous important salons. Her compositions include six piano sonatas and a three-volume Cours complet pour l’enseignement du forte-piano.
